Amintas joined Imazon in 2003, as a trainee in the Remote Sensing and Geoprocessing laboratory. From 2004 to 2009 he held the position of Assistant Researcher I and is currently Assistant Researcher II. As of April 2011 he had 16 publications related to the use of geotechnologies for monitoring and environmental modeling in the Amazon. His main interests are tools for supporting decision making and programming and modeling of land use and cover.
