Programs

Supports municipal, state, and federal governments in the creation, protection, implementation, and consolidation of protected areas in the Amazon. For existing protected areas, the program develops management plans, provides training, and participates in councils. Additionally, in these territories, the program supports biodiversity conservation initiatives and actions to improve the quality of life of traditional peoples and communities. Projects integrate biodiversity monitoring; training for public managers and civil society; the development and support of community environmental agents; environmental education and communication. There are also initiatives to support community development, encourage sustainable management of forest natural resources, and foster community-based tourism. The program also prioritizes collective instruments for territorial management, such as Protected Area Mosaics and Ecological Corridors. Finally, it operates through partnerships with local social and environmental institutions and public agencies.
