Programs

Contributes to the forest restoration of deforested and degraded landscapes in the Brazilian Legal Amazon, generating information, maps, and diagnostics to support the planning, execution, and/or monitoring of restoration actions at different scales. It also provides direct support to stakeholders implementing restoration areas on the ground, through the strengthening of local capacities, technical guidance, and the provision of material, operational, and logistical resources. The program’s regional coverage studies address, in particular, the potential of the Amazon’s natural regeneration as an ally for large-scale, lower-cost restoration, including analyses of the suitability of areas for other uses (risk of clearance), as well as the territorial and land tenure context, among other factors. In Pará, the program also operates in the field with forest and productive restoration projects alongside family farmers. In these areas, Imazon primarily supports the implementation and maintenance of Agroforestry Systems (AFS) and conducts training to prepare multiplier agents in forest restoration in the Brazilian Legal Amazon.
