In June 2011, SAD detected 99 square kilometers of deforestation in Legal Amazon. It represented a 42% reduction regarding June 2010 when the deforestation totaled 172 square kilometers. From this total 45% occurred in Pará, followed by Mato Grosso (25%), Amazonas (20%) and Rondônia (10%). The deforestation accumulated in the period of August 2010 to June 2011, corresponding to the first months of the current.
Deforestation Calendar, has reached 1.534 square kilometers. There was a 15% increase regarding the same previous period (August 2009 to June 2010) when the deforestation totaled 1.334 square kilometers. The degraded forests in Legal Amazon totaled 193 square kilometers in June 2011. From this total, 44% occurred in Mato Grosso followed by Pará (28%), Rondônia (21%).
Amazonas (6%), and Acre (1%). The forest degradation accumulated in the period of August 2010 to June 2011 totaled 6.274 square kilometers. Regarding the previous period (August 2009 to June 2010) there was an expressive increase (266%), when the forest degradation totaled 1.715 square kilometers. In June 2011, the eleventh deforestation detected by SAD compromised 6.6 million tons of equivalent CO2 which represents a reduction of 39% regarding June 2010. In the accumulated period (August 2010 – June 2011) the deforestation compromised 90.5 million tons of equivalent CO2 and represented an increase of 3.8% regarding the previous period (August 2009 to June 2010).
